Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 Emissions

SustainZone measures Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. Our SaaS platform helps organisations track, measure, calculate and compile emissions data into practical reports that support regulatory requirements, stakeholder reporting and progress toward net zero goals.

Scope 1

Scope 1 covers direct greenhouse gas emissions from sources owned or controlled by your organisation. Examples include emissions from combustion in owned or controlled boilers, furnaces, vehicles and certain industrial processes.

Scope 2

Scope 2 covers indirect emissions associated with purchased energy, such as electricity, heating or cooling generated on behalf of your organisation.

Scope 3

Scope 3 covers other indirect emissions across your organisation's value chain, including upstream and downstream activities such as purchased goods and services, transportation, business travel, supplier activities and the use of sold products.

Scope 3 emissions are often the most complex to measure because the required data sits across suppliers, customers and other parts of the value chain. They can also represent a significant proportion of an organisation's total greenhouse gas footprint and therefore provide important opportunities for emissions reduction.
